Hi again, readers!
For today’s post, I wanted to share a little about my current teaching experience. As I mentioned in my about me, I am currently getting my Master’s degrees in English and Teaching from Salem State University. As part of my degree, I am completely the teaching capstone: student teaching.
I have the pleasure of doing my student teaching at Newburyport High School, and I couldn’t be more excited about this. I’ve been at NHS for three weeks thus far, and I already love it. My cooperating teaching, Melissa Farmer, is a phenomenal teacher; I feel fortunate to be learning not only from observing her but from her observing me. Melissa has provided me with informative feedback, and I am confident my teaching will continue to improve with her guidance and support. The English department as a whole has been welcoming to me and the two other student teachers in the department.
My role at NHS will be to take over three of Melissa’s English classes. I have already taken over one of her Grade 10 Honors class–a sweet group of students who are excited to learn– and I will start taking over two Grade 12 CP classes in the next few weeks. So for the next semester, this blog will share the many things I learn at NHS.
I am excited to continue my work at NHS, and I can’t wait to share more with you!
